With even the latest smartphones running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, people have already started assuming the features, and released date for the upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
There has been a mass confusion regarding the next Android version. Rumors claim that Google might even roll out Android 4.3 update, before presenting Android 5.0.
If at all this happens to be true, we cannot expect Android 5.0 update to hit the market till 2013 end. Or even till 2014.
But then, these are just rumors on the Internet and nothing definitive can be said at the moment.

Android 5.0 Release Date

When Google announced in 2012 that its developer conference would take place from May 15 to May 17 2013, it was widely presumed that the search engine giant would also make some declaration about the upcoming Android 5.0 version. More so because Google had already announced Android 5.0 in its previous conference.

All Android users and experts were waiting with bated breath for the Android 5.0 release date.
On January 31, the rumors again got the wind after a Google IO showing of Android 5.0 looked more likely when screen grabs of a Qualcomm roadmap were leaked, showing Android 5.0 as breaking cover between April and June 2013.
On April 24, it was clear that Android 5.0 would not be able to make cover until 2 to 3 months as Google announced that it wanted to give time to hardware makers to roll out the Android 4.0 on their devices.

Android 5.0 Devices

Before the launch of Google Nexus 4.0, the market was abuzz with the rumors that it would be running Android 5.0. But when the phone actually hit the market, it came with the old Android 4.2.
Later, the Motorola X Phone to be launched in January 2013 was expected to come with the much awaited Android 5.0. That too did not live up to its 5.0 expectations.
Android 5.0 release date
The next Nexus Phone Google Nexus 5 was even absent from this year’s Google IO as the previous Nexus 4 went on sale only until 2012 end.
As it is claimed now, Google Nexus 5 will feature a 5.2 inch display, a 1920 X 1080 OLED panel, 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, and 3 GB RAM.
Experts also claim that HTC would come up with the new mobile HTC T6 running on Android 5.0. The specs would include 2.3 GHz quad core Snapdragon Processor, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage.
Android 5.0 update shall be rolled out for existing devices like Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 8.0, and Galaxy Note 10.1.

Android 5.0 New Interface

Google presented the Holo Dark Theme with Android 4.0, and we expect to see some more new features this time. Not much can be said at present regarding the new brighter interface, though the Internet is full of images which claim to be the screenshots of Android 5.0.
Don’t believe them- they are all fake!!
We expect that we’ll have an enhanced Social Network Sync support, more keyboard adaptation options, better multiple device support, cross device SMS syncs, and who wouldn’t like some bells of whistles of additional widgets .
As we wait for another big release by Google in next 2 months, no matter if it’s 4.3, or 5.0, we have high expectations.
Those looking forward eagerly for the Android 5.0 release date will have to wait for a little longer!!
